Explorations
History fascinates me. Not the history you read or remember, but the places and things that have held these lives, seen these events, and bear the scars of its time. Experience is beauty. A massive historical landmark. An abandoned house in the middle of the woods. A girl's faded dress in a secondhand store...

Norristown State Hospital
Norristown State Hospital, built in 1879. The hospital was Pennsylvania's first state inpatient psychiatric facility and is now the only one in southeastern Pennsylvania. The hospital was built in the "cottage model" style of asylum architecture, with a number of separate structures. The hospital advocated moral therapy and limited restraint. In the mid twentieth century, there were over 4000 patients. The hospital now serves 307 patients in General Psychiatry and 120 in Forensic Psychiatry. It is still fully functional, however this building in particular lies long abandoned. -
Moister Waterpark
A privately owned water park built for the Moister family by their father, but fell to ruin and overgrowth over the years. I've heard it's been completely restored recently, but I much prefer it like this... -
Pennhurst Mental Hospital
In 1908, the Pennhurst State School and Hospital started up in a small Pennsylvania town to help people with mental and physical disabilities. Both adults and children were housed in this sprawling campus, most were sent here by their parents, and some never came back to see their children. The patients would be separated by their intelligence level in different buildings; some could almost function on their own, and others could not feed or bathe themselves. The most severely stricken patients would lie in cribs all day, barely able to move or roll over. -
Lambertville High School
A school that was built in the late 1800's... had one fire and recovered... had a second fire and called it quits. This place is complete with it's own ghost story of "Buckeye" a high school student that died... a gravestore "memorial" that a graduating class had purchased for the school BEFORE it burnt down, and trees growing on the third floor of the building. Located in Lambertville, NJ. -
611 House
I came across this on a sub-zero degree sick day, on a trip to Wawa for some much needed chicken noodle soup. Unfortunately, I had my camera in the car so I HAD to make a stop. Looks like it was some kind of office?
